Job Announcement – Wildlife Biologist/Project Manager
Wildscape Restoration is currently looking to hire self-motivated, energetic professionals who enjoy working outdoors in nature, as well as in an office. Wildscape is looking for a skilled biologist and project manager! Wildscape Restoration, Inc. is located in Ventura, California. We are a small, locally-owned, environmental consulting and contracting firm. Our work focuses on habitat restoration, invasive plant removal and maintenance and landscape maintenance. Our biological work focuses on monitoring, wildlife and vegetative surveys and coordinating with regulatory agencies.
The role of a Wildlife Biologist and Project Manager requires a wide variety of job duties. These can range from in office work, including client coordination, project scheduling and working on new project proposals to in field work, including biological surveys and monitoring. We offer flexible hours, but no telecommuting - must work in the office on consistent schedule. Work will be in the office on a regular basis and scheduled field days will be intermixed. There is usually more field work in the spring time for annual surveys and wildlife surveys. - Biological Field Surveys
- Nesting Bird Surveys
- Construction Monitoring
- Habitat Assessments
- Wetland Delineations
- Revegetation Monitoring and Data Collection
- Vegetation Mapping and Surveying
- Preparation of Biological Resource Assessment Documents
- Preparation of Biological Constraint/Impact Reports
- development of Mitigation Measures
- Regulatory Permit Preparation and Coordination
- Preparation of CEQA/NEPA Documents.
Project Manager Responsibilities Include:
- Managing existing Wildscape projects and contracts
- Communicate with clients
- Communicate with regulatory agencies
- Scheduling crew for each project
- Managing project budgets
- Working along side other Project Managers and the Foreman
- Preparing Proposals including a Scope of Work and a Budget
Desired Qualifications:
- Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Environmental or Biological Sciences (or equivalent experience)
- 3-5 years of experience is highly desired
- Extensive knowledge of southern California flora, fauna and habitats
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements, CEQA/NEPA processes
- Experience with habitat restoration
- Ability to conduct field work in strenuous conditions including hot, cold, wet, windy weather and/or steep terrain.
- Ability to balance multiple tasks to completion
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Willingness to work in a team environment or independently as assigned
- Ability to work in an open office setting
- Experience with GIS
- Excellent proficiency in Word - create tables, understand formatting/style techniques, and word-process correspondence/reports; macros a plus
- Excellent proficiency in Excel - design spreadsheets and knowledge of basic formulas and formatting; charts and graphs a plus
- Excellent proficiency in Adobe Acrobat – document production and forms
- Prior experience with word processing and document production desired.
- Extremely detail-oriented
- Strong focus on efficiency and development of new procedures to increase efficiency
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Excellent analytical skills
- Great time management
- Ability to lead
