Wildscape is currently seeking several on-call crew member positions!
- We are looking for crew members with experience in landscaping, irrigation, or habitat restoration. If you don’t have experience, apply anyway! Wildscape has openings for entry-level potions if you are looking to gain experience. Training will be provided as needed.
- Crew work is mostly on-call and primarily located in Ventura County and Los Angeles County. The busy season is generally the fall through the spring. Work is highly dependent on weather conditions. There is room for growth in our company, full and part-time positions may be available based on performance.
- Overnight travel may be required for up to 5 weekdays (maximum) at a time, depending on the project. Work may be done independently, but usually as a team.
- Applicant must be in good physical condition with stamina for outdoor work. Skills needed include: observant of details, patience for doing repetitive tasks, and safety-conscious.
- Applicants must be able to arrive to work sites on time (early mornings), and maintain an acceptable DMV record as well as a current driver’s license and insurance.
Job Duties as a Crew Member
The duties of a crew member at Wildscape include:
- Manual control of weeds – this can be hand removal, or with herbicide application, or with tools such as chainsaws and weed whackers
- The use of herbicide
- Installation/maintenance of new plant species
- Installation/maintenance of irrigation
- Installation/maintenance of erosion control
Desired Experience:
- Herbicide application methods – experience with backpack sprayers/spray rigs, mixing and loading, and/or general herbicide knowledge. QAL/QAC highly desired!
- Identification of native California plants (common names and/or scientific names)
- Identification of non-native weeds (common names and/or scientific names)
- Experience with various hand/power tools (weed whacker, leaf blower, chainsaw, lawnmower)
- Operation of heavy equipment (skid-steer/track-steer)
- Planting container plants and/or seeds
- Irrigation design and knowledge
- Installation and/or maintenance of irrigation systems (sprinkler, micro-emitters, and drip)
- Identification of soils, amendments, fertilizer components, appropriate uses
- Seed collection, storage, and treatment
- Drive large vehicles (dump truck, water truck)
Pay ranges with experience and can increase according to merit and responsibilities -
